The company’s main manufacturing facilities are located in New Delhi, while its sales and service offices operate in Bangalore, Chennai, and Mumbai, enabling it to support customers across the country.
Palas specializes in designing and producing a wide range of interactive hardware and technology solutions. Its product portfolio includes touchscreen monitors, all-in-one systems, industrial touch panel PCs, smart card readers for ATMs, kiosks and POS systems, and digital signage solutions for malls, factories, and commercial buildings. The company also develops smart city information and transaction kiosks as well as self-ordering kiosk systems and software for restaurants. These products are widely used across industries such as retail, banking, hospitality, manufacturing, and public infrastructure.
Apart from technological innovation, Palas places strong emphasis on environmental responsibility and sustainability. The company is committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and clean working environment for its employees. It actively works to prevent pollution and improve environmental performance by managing the impact of its products, services, and manufacturing processes. Since its products contain electronic components, Palas follows the E-Waste Management Rules, 2016 established by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the Government of India. Customers are encouraged to dispose of end-of-life products only through authorized recyclers. If customers face difficulty in disposal, Palas offers a take-back program where used products can be returned to its offices in Delhi, Mumbai, or Chennai for proper recycling and safe disposal.
The company has a long and impressive history of innovation. Palas began operations in 1984 as a manufacturer of packaging products including plastics, injection and blow moulding items, duplex cartons, and tin cans. Between 1992 and 1999, it expanded into process control and automation, offering turnkey automation solutions using platforms such as Honeywell, Allen‑Bradley, and Siemens. These solutions were widely used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, power generation, food processing, and steel manufacturing.
A major technological shift occurred in 1997 when Palas began developing touchscreen solutions for industrial control systems. At a time when touch technology was relatively unknown in India, the company collaborated with clients to develop innovative touchscreen-based applications. In 2006, responding to demand from OEM customers, Palas expanded its product range to include thermal printers and smart card readers.
The company continued to innovate in the following years. In 2011, Palas became the first Indian manufacturer of dip-type smart card readers capable of reading both magnetic swipe and IC chip cards used in ATMs and kiosks. By 2012, it had started manufacturing multitouch industrial PCs and specialized software solutions for digital signage and automation. In 2014, the company introduced touchscreen tables and kiosks.
Later developments included touch-based solutions for paperless factories, solar-powered outdoor kiosks, IoT-enabled kiosks with environmental sensors, and transaction kiosks for smart city projects. Palas also introduced object recognition systems for vending and food ordering, electric vehicle charging stations, and contactless self-service solutions for hospitals, offices, and restaurants.
In 2022, the company launched an innovative automatic Biryani vending machine in Chennai, highlighting its continued focus on smart vending and automated retail technologies.
Today, Palas is recognized as South Asia’s largest manufacturer of touchscreen systems. The company remains professionally managed and privately owned, with its founder and managing director being a graduate of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. Through continuous innovation, strong engineering expertise, and responsible business practices, Palas continues to play a major role in shaping India’s touchscreen and self-service technology industry.
